Ray started his musical career at the age of
8 when he started taking "lap steel" guitar lessons in his home town of
Houston. At the age of 9, he was invited to his first "gig" on a local
television show featuring new talent in the area. He picked up the
regular guitar at age 10 and continued to hone his skills on both
instruments until his teens.
As a teenager, he played guitar and sang lead vocals in several Rock and Roll and Country bands in the Houston area. But, Ray never lost his love for steel guitar and has been playing pedal steel for the last 20 years. Ray has played with a number of Bryan/College Station area bands, recorded several television commercial jingles, played on demo tapes for local talent, and performed with Johnny Lee for the opening of the Texas Lottery in Tyler. He has been a member of the Texas Knights Band for the last 7 years.
To relax, Ray enjoys fishing, raising cattle and the country life.
